Essentials of Fire ChaplaincyEssentials of Fire Chaplaincy is a two-day course designed as a “Survey of Fire Chaplaincy”. It is appropriate for new chaplains, experienced chaplains, and those who want to learn what fire chaplaincy is all about. Topics include: Foundations, Personhood of the Chaplain, Beginning a Fire Chaplaincy Program, Ministry to Firefighters, Assisting Those in Crisis, Chaplain Code of Conduct and Ethics, the Chaplain’s Response, On-Scene Operations, Incident Management, Stress Management, Firefighter Injury and Line of Duty Death, and Fire Service Funerals. Advanced ClassesFaith and Spiritual DevelopmentThis Class is designed to explore how a person’s faith is developed and thereby what role faith plays in the meaning of life for everyone. This exploration will be conducted through the lens of James Fowler’s stages of faith development and Erik Erikson’ stages of psychosocial development. Furthermore, with an understanding of faith and psychosocial development, this module will further explore how this development impacts a person during a crisis of faith and moral injury. Ministry of PresenceThe Ministry of Presence is an equipping workshop designed to cultivate and strengthen skills for reaching out in love and care and effectively help others. This 16-hour experiential class explores essential crisis communication tools, including initiating relationships, effective listening, use of questions and mirroring, non-verbal communication, Spirit-nudges and empowering next steps. Skill by skill, learn-by-doing, relational training offers immediate application for emergency service Chaplains, both on call and in everyday life. It is “Good Samaritan” ministry--becoming more aware of the hurts and needs of others, and partnering with the Holy to offer help, hope and healing.

Advocacy efforts for responders should not only focus on the individuals TIME themselves but also extend to supporting their families, including both children 08:30-17:00 and adults. Providing an accepted approach that addresses the needs of responder family members involves offering educational opportunities and supportive services. These services should be culturally sensitive, ensuring they are tailored to the unique backgrounds and traditions of each family, thereby fostering reassurance and strengthening the support network. Part 2. A Holistic Approach to Public Safety Wellness Programs Wellness carries multiple meanings within the realm of public safety, DATE encompassing both personal and professional survival. A holistic perspective Sunday October 25, 2026 promotes the importance of maintaining strong physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, spiritual and social health. The demands of such a noble profession TIME require departments to embed resiliency-enhancing strategies directly into their 08:30-17:00 structures. Participation in wellness programs should be encouraged for all caregivers, ensuring that support is available at every level.
